Back to the Cliffs
As I mentioned in the last bulletin I have been back to the cliffs of the South Downs. The weather was good but still way to warm for this time of year. This cannot be a good sign. Unfortunately my intended subjects, the Peregrine Falcons did not show themselves this time round, but I was quick to lock onto another bird I have tried photographing in the past. The Fulmar!
This gull like bird is in fact a petrel, and tends to nest on cliffs. Fulmars spend a lot of their time out at sea and never touch down on level terrain. They would not be able to take off unless they have a cliff face from which to launch themselves into flight.

| Above: Everyone seems to be on the move at daybreak. These gulls were on their way to their favourite scavenging sites. |

| Above: This Fulmar took a good look at me and then decided that I was no threat to it. Lets face it, it knows I can’t step over the edge. |

| Above: Fulmars just love circling and skimming along the cliff face. I managed to capture this one with a view towards Birling Gap. |
