Down by the Beach
Launching off

Ok so these images are not of wildlife as such!  But somewhere down the line, (a long, long way down the line) their genes still have an essence of wolf.  These are my girls back home in Namibia.  Whenever I am down there, I try and spend some time with them on the beach, letting them run and chase after balls.  If the cold Atlantic permits we’ll take a swim from time to time.  On this particular trip it was too cold.  Out came the camera and I started snapping the family.

The formula for these images consists of two tennis balls, an endless stretch of beach, two lovely dogs and an assistant (a sister will do if you have one).  A camera with a reasonable frame rate and a zoom lens will also be of help.  Next get the assistant to throw the ball repeatedly (until their arm drops off) for the dogs to chase after, find a good vantage point and hit that shutter button.

Enjoy the images and I will return to a wildlife theme with the next bulletin.  Take care.

Below we have the assistant, with the stand by ball in hand. Senta is fixed on one thing only .......the BALL!!!! (that got away)

A big girl with an even bigger heart! She wouldn't hurt a fly. (well maybe a fly)
Senta and Sasha at play!
Sasha is surprisingly fast! And her brakes don't work all that well. I have been knocked over from time to time.
As the light disappeared, I made use of the slow shutter speeds to pan and introduce some motion blur into the image.
