A roaring lion kills no game...-African proverb. |
It had been early! Much earlier than normal when I rose to visit the “little boys room”! For some reason I made my way to the back of the camp instead of just taking a short walk up the dry river bed as I usually do. As I returned to my tent at the edge of the riverbed I could make out two dark shapes seemingly looming over my tent. As the thought introduced its self to my brain, branches cracked and leaves rained down rustling gently in the pre dawn glow. Elephants! Feeding! Camera! No light! ….I think you can work out the rest…
With my camera set up and supported by my tripod (and the rest of the camp fast asleep, though both me and the elephants made a racket) I slipped down into the river and just decided to go with the slow speeds and forget about any “conventional images”. I just panned along with the elephants as they moved on up the riverbed, feeding…not phased one bit by our presence in the camp. Not having to worry about getting everything pin sharp and trying to gauge the exact depth of field in the gloom, freed me up to just have some fun and produce something different………the images work equally well in colour but I though the Black and White images tie in nicely with the last bulletin. Enjoy… |
