Karl is a Namibian Wildlife and Out Door Photographer who loves nothing more than working in a hot, dry and dusty environment. A true, ‘Soul of the Desert’, he has gained a wealth of experience applying his craft in the pursuit to document life in the Namib Desert and along its fringes. His work also incorporates travel and localised nature photography in the UK.
Whether on assignment for a client or out and about of his own accord, his passion and enthusiasm for the subject and photography is always at the fore. Even though the working conditions are not always ideal or camera friendly, the challenges are embraced and become a working part of the process.
Sandstorms, long hikes, mountain top camping and tracking are all an integral part of the craft. Even a dip in the cold Atlantic and getting drenched in desert rainstorms are not unheard of. The one hard rule in the pursuit of his vision, is an unwavering respect for the subject matter and its well being.
As well as supplying stock images and undertaking assignments, Karl also writes articles on a host of outdoor and nature related topics. His work has appeared in various international publications among them: The Mail On Sunday, The Guardian, DK Books, The Observer, Le Figaro, Flamingo, Outdoor Photographer, Namib Films and Leisure Times – to name a few.
